The Best "British Pancake" Recipe

I love pancakes. It is something I remember my dad making me when I was very young. I have been long since looking for a good pancake recipe. I watch a lot of YouTube videos by Danisnotonfire, and I came across his video he made with AmazingPhil on making British Pancakes. Since I am British myself, I thought I would give it a try. These are by far the best pancakes I have made, so I decided to share this recipe.

To make these pancakes, you will need:
- 4oz plain flour
- Pinch of salt
- 2 eggs
- 200mL milk mixed with 75mL water
- 2oz butter

Firstly what you need to do is sieve the flour into a mixing bowl. Stir in the salt, and make a well in the middle of the flour-salt mixture. Next crack the eggs into the bowl, and whisk until the eggs and flour are combined. This step is very important, or else the pancakes will not fry properly.

Next microwave the butter in a bowl until it is melted. While it is melting, slowly stir in the milk-water mixture. Take the butter out of the microwave, and add two tablespoons of butter and add this to the pancake batter. Use the remaining butter to grease the frying pan.

Get the frying pan very hot, and add one ladle of pancake batter. Leave the batter until it starts to bubble and you can see a golden edge around the pancake. Flip it over and cook until golden brown.

This recipe makes 4 medium-sized pancakes, so you need to adjust the recipe to make as many as you need. My favourite pancake topping is sugar and lemon juice, but you can use maple syrup, fruit, or whatever else you want.

If you want to see Danisnotonfire's video on making these pancakes, you can see it here.
